2009 wasn’t the year Phil Blackmar hoped it to be.

“This year hasn’t been very much fun, so I was comfortable with getting back into broadcasting, or something else.”

That all changed on Sunday when Phil Blackmar claimed his first ever Champions Tour victory at the AT&T Championship presented by Alcatel Lucent. Blackmar came out Sunday with guns blazing with birdies on five of his first six holes.

2007 and 2008 Champion, John Cook was in the hunt but Blackmar was able to pull away. High off of the recent President’s Cup victory, Assistant Captain Jay Haas, put himself in position to take the AT&T Championship into a old fashion Texas shoot out.

However, with arrant shots on the Par 3, 18th Haas put himself into trouble that he could not recover from. His par putt brought on gasps from the crowd as the playoff putt was rolled over the lip of the hole.
